About us

Flour Power Cakes was established in 2000 by Tracey Jayne Cotterill.

Having trained at the Birmingham College of food, Tracey studied confectionery and baking and learned the techniques that would help her to design and make the exciting cakes Flour Power is renowned for.

Her love for making cakes started with celebration cakes for family and friend’s birthdays. This soon snowballed into wedding cakes which included her own 4 tier winter wedding cake complete with glass vases and fresh water fish.

Being in the cake studio kitchens - whether it’s working with vibrant flowers and decorations, or elegant and contemporary designs - is the thing Tracey finds most rewarding. This enthusiasm and her flair for design is an indication of how much passion goes into each of Flour Power’s projects.

Wedding cakes, Birthday cakes, or Corporate cakes, the consistent level of quality has helped Flour Power win an award and establish its reputation in and around Solihull and Birmingham.

Flour Power Cakes provides a friendly, personal and professional service from your very first visit. Whether you’ve called in to discuss a celebration cake or I’m meeting you for a wedding consultation, we’ll make a fabulous cake for you. From placing an order to delivery and set up - all of our cakes are made precisely the way you want them to the highest standard.

Our wedding consultations are by appointment only. We’ll sit down and I’ll help advise you on what will make your wedding cake look fabulous on your most special day. We’ll talk through the theme of your wedding, any colour schemes you may have, and any ideas you may like to use to personalize your cake with. We’ll also organize a cake tasting for you to help you make your mind up about flavours.

Please don’t worry if you don’t know what you’d like - to help inspire you we have portfolios of our work and a wedding cake collection on display. We can also design a completely unique wedding cake for you. We’ve designed lots of bespoke wedding cakes before and we’ll use this experience to create the cake you’d like for your wedding reception.

There is no obligation or charge for our wedding consultations.

Once you’ve chosen your wedding cake design I am always available to talk through any further details with you. We want your cake to look fabulous and welcome as much input as you want to give us. As we hand craft and decorate all our cakes in our own studio we’ll always know precisely what stage your cake is at.

We are also happy to liase directly with florists - if your cake is designed with fresh flowers, or wedding planners, event coordinators, hotels and restaurants to ensure you wedding cake is just right.

Contemporary, stylish or novel, and always fabulous, our cakes taste as good as they look and will help make your celebration even more memorable.
