The BRMB Radio Wedding on the beach
In August 2009 Flour power was approached by BRMB radio and asked to make the ‘wedding on a beach’ wedding cake. The event was sponsored by Monarch Airlines and BRMB Radio and took place on a specially designed beach in Chamberlain Square. The story was featured in newspapers across the City, on local radio and is available to watch on Wedding TV & the Wedding TV website from 4 November 2009. A lucky couple from Birmingham won the competition and their entire wedding was paid for.
The wedding cake needed to tie in the Monarch Airline’s beach holiday image, so using Monarch’s colour scheme as a base, we carefully decorated the cake with a beach honeymoon theme. Sea blues and sky blues are covered with sugar paste star fish and an assortment of hand made beach shells. We finished the cake with a sandy beach top tier and the happy couple, whom we characterized, sitting together in front of Monarch’s purple beach hut. Thank you BRMB & Monarch Airlines for involving Flour Power Cakes with this unique event. It was great to see the Wedding Cake on the Wedding Channel TV show. I thought it looked great and the Bride and Groom were genuinely delighted with it.

Celebrating separation with the ‘Divorce Cake’. We’ve done a few of these now so I thought I’d include a photo of our latest design – ‘the ball & chain’. One of our customers wanted to celebrate their divorce and what better way than to celebrate with a cake ? We thought it was an opportunity to add a little humour into a difficult situation. They loved it !!!
